Wow! All of that came out of Danny Boyle’s head

I must admit I’ve always been a fan of Danny Boyle.
I remember seeing ‘Trainspotting’ for the first time in the cinema and seeing it then for what it became – an iconic British film. Since then, I’ve seen every Danny Boyle film in a cinema, the most recent – 127 hours – being my favourite of that year.
Even with all the success for making films (including multi Oscar winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’) it must have been a fairly daunting gig to take on the opening ceremony, especially after China’s vast, expansive spectacle.
If Twitter is anything to go by, the opening ceremony will go down as one of the best and many in London and in the country are a) pumped up for the Olympics and b) feeling very good about being British right now.
For me, the spirit of British entrepreneurship really shone through – Tim Berners-Lee, the NHS (a radical invention of the 1945 Labour government), the sheer amount of British music that has gone around the world and of course the Industrial revolution going into the digital age – incredible!
The naysayers would have you believe that the sums don’t add up. That all the spending on the Olympics will not be matched with income. But how can you measure such a thing, when all of tonight’s ceremony can come out of one person’s head. Who knows the creativity that is untapped by people who are inspired by the Olympics and the massive reminder of how great it is to be British.
As I read on Twitter, achievement + irreverant, that’s what it means to be British.
Now let’s take this all to heart and go on to kick start the UK economy. It is the entrepreneurs who are the people to turbo charge an economy stuck in a liqudity crisis.
If you have an idea for your business, don’t listen to the naysayers.
Just remember – the Queen parachuting from a helecopter! (How did he come up with that!)
