Its the most exciting day of the year for me – the budget 2012: here’s what could happen…
Author: Russell SmithMarch 21, 2012
After 70 consecutive blog posts every single day, I missed yesterday!
Huge apologies to everybody who logged in to find that for once, I had NOTHING TO SAY!
Actually, what happened was I was so overcome with excitement for today’s budget that I fell ill and went to bed at 6.30pm last night and was ill through the night. (I think it was more to do with the new paint fumes in our office).
After 13 hours sleep, I’m feeling pumped for the budget today.
This really is a big one today. It will tell us how committed the government are to the private sector and small and medium-sized businesses and how much they see this sector as the saviour of the UK economy. We will also see through the tax rate changes whether they value enterprise, entrepreneurs and new business and are committed to get the banks lending.
Here’s my main questions:
– Can George restore confidence in the UK economy by supporting small and medium-sized businesses?
– Will George scrap the 50% tax?
– Will George play around with the personal allowance? (Is it going to £9,205?)
– Will George be able to get the banks to lend more cash?
– Will ‘Downtown Abbey’ get a tax break? (It deserves to, it’s great)
All will be revealed today at 12.30pm!
I will be tweeting live reaction to the budget, you can follow me at @russellstweets and I will be using the hashtag #budget2012 which lots of commentators are using so you will get a good well-rounded look at what’s going to happen.
If you have any comments or questions regarding your own tax affairs, do feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I will be posting a blog later tonight to register my comments after the dust has settled, but until then – relax, get a cup of tea and enjoy!
