Do you need to complete a P11D form?

HMRC love their jargon for the various different forms that need to be completed and P11D is no exception.

You need to submit a P11D form for every employee that you have provided expenses or benefits to in the tax year (and this INCLUDES YOURSELF as the business owner).

The most common types of benefits that will trigger a P11d form are company car, private medical and an overdrawn directors loan account (i.e. you owe the company money).

If an employee or youself are earning less than £8,500 you have to complete a P9D rather than a P11D.

P11D and P9D forms have to be completed by 6 July so have a look to see if you are providing your employees or yourself any benefits or expenses.
