Changes to tax relief on travel and subsistence for IR35 companies
Author: Russell SmithJanuary 9, 2016
There are some changes to tax relief on travel and subsistence for IR35 companies.
IR35 companies are umbrella companies or personal service companies that generally only work for one company (i.e. an employment intermediary rather than an actual business serving lots of customers).
IR35 was the piece of tax legislation that inhibits the tax relief of limited companies (see lots of earlier blogs for more on this – put ‘IR35’ in the search bar.
From April 2016, companies that fall under IR35 will not be able to claim travel and subsistence as an expense.
We don’t quite know how this will actually work, more guidance will be released by HMRC in February 2016.
